Eligibility Criteria for SSC CGL 2024 Exam

Not everyone can appear for the SSC CGL Exam, as the commission has set parameters for minimum eligibility criteria, including educational qualifications, age limit, and nationality. Based on last years notification, the eligibility criteria are as follows:

Educational Qualification

  • Assistant Audit Officer/Assistant Accounts Officer: Bachelors degree in any subject from a recognized University and CA/CS/MBA/Cost & Management Accountant/Masters in Commerce/Masters in Business Studies.
  • Junior Statistical Officer (JSO): Bachelors degree from any recognized University with a minimum of 60% in Mathematics in Class 12th or in any discipline with Statistics as one of the subjects in graduation.
  • Statistical Investigator Grade-II: Graduation degree from any recognized University with Economics, Statistics, or Mathematics as a compulsory or elective subject.
  • Research Assistant in National Human Rights Commission (NHRC): Bachelors degree from a recognized University or Institute with at least one year of research experience in any recognized university or recognized research institution.
  • For remaining posts: Bachelors degree in any subject from a recognized University.

3. Nationality

A candidate must be a citizen/subject of either:

  • India
  • Nepal
  • Bhutan
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam to permanently settle in India.

SSC CGL Selection Process 2024

The SSC CGL 2024 Examination will be conducted in four tiers as follows:

  1. Tier-I: Computer-Based Examination (Qualifying in nature).
  2. Tier-II:
    • Paper I: Compulsory for all posts
    • Paper II: For candidates applying for Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) in the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation
    • Paper III: For candidates applying for Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer
  • All candidates who have successfully applied for the SSC CGL exam will be assigned roll numbers and admit cards for the Tier-I Computer-Based Examination.
  • Based on the marks scored in Tier-I, candidates will be shortlisted, category-wise, to appear in Tier-II and Tier-III Examinations.
  • Separate cut-offs will be released for Paper-II of Tier-II (for Junior Statistical Officer), Paper-III of Tier-II (for Assistant Audit Officer and Assistant Accounts Officer), and for Paper-I of Tier-II (for all other posts).
  • Tier-II Examinations will be conducted for all candidates qualified in Tier-I.
  • In Tier II, all candidates will be required to appear in Paper-I, II, and III. However, only specific candidates shortlisted for the posts of Junior Statistical Officer and Assistant Audit Officer/Assistant Accounts Officer will be required to appear in Paper-II and Paper-III, respectively.
